It’s Been One Year

What NextA milestone with no real meaning, today marks the one year anniversary of the release of What Next A Proactive Approach to Success. I wrote the book because I felt these types of books weren’t very good, didn’t say much of value, and weren’t personal enough. I wanted to give real examples of success but not just from super successful¬†incredibly¬†rich people, I wanted to give examples from throughout the spectrum and show that success is personal.

Personally I feel really successful but when I look at what some people accomplish it’s easy to become demoralized. I’ve overcome that and focus only on my satisfaction, defining success and happiness my way. I’ve used this blog to follow up on some themes in the book like curiosity, momentum, and taking action, and to vent my frustration at the way the world works. I’ve been very honest in what I’ve revealed because it’s important to show that defeat and failure are not the end, they are the beginning.

I’ve been surprised and happy with the reviews I’ve gotten but also disappointed that I didn’t get more of them. I’ve been grateful for each and every sale of the book even though it didn’t reach my goal of all time best seller. I’ve given away more than I’ve sold and my only thought is that I hope the readers found some benefit in those pages.

As the year proceeded forward I found myself doing less and less to promote the book. Like anyone who asks what next, I was being pulled in other directions, looking for other outlets for my energy. If you’ve followed my more recent blog posts you know that I’m planning something big and I’ll be able to reveal what that is very soon. The book, however, remains important to me and I’ll continue shouting from the rooftops to anyone who will listen.

Shouting from the rooftops isn’t the most effective marketing out there however and that’s where you, dear reader, come in. I need your help to spread the word. If you’ve read the book then please consider leaving a review on, if you find yourself in conversation with someone you think could benefit from What Next, then by all means, share it with them.

This past year has been great but books last for a very long time and I hope this one will have a long and successful life.
